Matt’s Challenge

I attended the WordCamp Philippines 2010 last October where I met WordPress co-founder, Matt Mullenweg. In his open forum, he talked about the Philippines being behind other asian countries in the growth of WordPress usage.

Being a WordPress Enthusiast for the past couple of years and saw how the WordPress Community has grown and helped each other, I am ready to take Matt’s challenge to help WordPress grow in the Philippines and also help my fellow Filipinos make money online using WordPress as a tool.

WordCamp with Matt Mullenweg

Attended WordCamp Philippines 2010 last Saturday October 2 and met WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg.

Many people are asking me why use WordPress? I know there are a lot of  other good blogging platforms but the support of the WordPress Community led by Matt Mullenweg is the main reason why I use and love WordPress.

Matt Mullenweg in the WordCamp open forum made a challenge to the Philippine WordPress Community to increase presence here in our Country because the growth here in the Philippines is behind some Asian countries. I have already planned a couple of projects which may help with this and I know that the WordPress Community will help each other with this challenge.

WordPress Trademark now owned by WordPress Foundation

As announced by WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg, “Automattic has transferred the WordPress trademark to the WordPress Foundation, the non-profit dedicated to promoting and ensuring access to WordPress and related open source projects in perpetuity.”

This means that WordPress and its trademark is no longer owned by a company (Automattic) but will now be handled by the WordPress Foundation. This is actually great news for the WordPress community and is a step towards the continuity of the WordPress software. Great move by Matt and Automattic, this is why I love the WordPress Community and idolize Matt Mullenweg, I am excited to see him on WordCamp Philippines and congratulate him on this move.

From Matt Mullenweg:
“I know in my heart that this is the right thing for the entire WordPress community, and they followed me on that. It wasn’t easy, but things worth doing seldom are”
